1) I think there were many opportunities where I could have made some careless mistakes. For example, I had to repeat the same procedure with many different files. As time went I was too tired to be consistent. I think Macro has a really important role in the analysis since it can prove what I did by providing all information regarding the processes. Without Macro, there is no way to prove that I did not make any mistakes. 2) There was a problem with the data in the local health region since the local health regions changed from 1996 to 2001. Some areas were fragmented and some aggregated. I had to guess the values in the changed area. 3) As to the accuracy in the data, the population in 1996 in the local health regions and census data were slightly different, but I did not change them at all. 4) In Idrisi, I had a hard time calculating or manipulating the data.I could not calculate in Idrisi, so I had to go back to Arcview. I think Arcview is much more useful than Idrisi in terms of the manipulation of the attribute table. 5) Since the detailed information about suicide were confidential, I could not obtain them. I had to work with only the numbers of the suicide and their regions. From the background research I conducted I was able to determine that many men use firearms to commit suicide. However, I was unable to determine the number of guns registered in the regions. Therefore, in this project there are few real information links to suicides. 6) In the end, I wonder if my obtained result would have differed if
I had used the EA census area instead of CSD. I am assuming that the
end result would have become more fragmented with smaller areas. |
