Introduction | Spatial Analysis The verdict is that most of the area along the mainland coast, up to the northern tip of Queen Charolette Island, and most area around Vancouver Island is quite suitable for salmon farming. Most of the identified area has a suitability index larger than 150. Surprisingly, the area around Queen Charlotte Island is TOTALLY unsuitable (that gives a case for preserving the environment of the Haida Gwaii!). The final result is largely governed by the IDW method used to create the depth surface. It should not be surprising that most of the coastal area is suitable, and in fact, there should be more suitable locations. |
