Healthy Snackin' With Eve from Eve's Crackers
What's satisfyingly flavourful, toasted to the perfect crunch and nutritious? Locally made, Eve's Crackers! Everything you find in an Eve's Cracker is something you would find in your own pantry. No spin, just real. All Eve's are gluten free certified, vegan, keto and high in fibre from the goodness of Canadian flaxseed. Plus, they're run by local sisters, Sarah and Eve!
Read on to find out more from Eve and come try out their crackers for yourself by stopping at our Dining Hall pop-up on March 17th from 11:30am - 3:00pm, while supplies last.
Why did you create Eve’s Crackers?
In 2016, I was suffering from eczema. Instead of using over-the-counter creams, I was determined to heal my skin through the power of my food choices. Although I managed to clear my eczema over time, I was left with a problem: There were no indulgent, yet healthy snacks I could eat!
I decided to take snack matters into my own hands. I started experimenting at home using wholesome, real ingredients I found in my pantry. After countless hours spent baking and recipe tweaking, I finally created a snack I felt good about eating. This little snack I now proudly call Eve’s Crackers.
From our launch in farmers markets to local grocery stores —it’s been a rewarding (and by rewarding, I mean insane) adventure.
I hope you love our crackers as much as I do!
What advice do you have for aspiring foodpreneurs?
Test your product and figure out your market fit in farmers’ markets. They are an amazing place to launch the first iteration of your food product. All you need is a smile and a table. You can even produce your product in your own home kitchen and legally sell in farmers’ markets. What is there to lose!
What advice do you have for SFU students who aspire to have their own business one day?
Don’t let your book-keeping get disorganized! Stay on top of your numbers from day one.
Where can people find your products?
Save on Foods, Whole Foods, Choices, Safeway and more. (Keep an eye out for their new flavour—Cracked Pepper—coming out in April!)
