Success Factors for Open Government Strategies in Canada

A Policy Brief by the Civil Society Members of Canada's Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Open Government

This document describes success factors that must be present for open government strategies to affect meaningful progress in Canada. It was developed in collaboration with the five of the civil society members of Canada’s Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Open Government, a body which is composed of 12 total representatives from civil society and government, and aims to advance constructive, ongoing dialogue on open government between the Government of Canada and civil society.

While developed through the lens of the federal government, most of the success factors outlined in the document also apply to provincial/territorial governments and large Canadian cities, and it is our hope that this provides a useful resource for governments at all levels that are pursuing open government strategies and reforms.
