Transportation

We encourage you and your guests to take public transportation to Convocation ceremonies. Translink provides excellent service to the University and drops you off very close to the ceremony site. Please see the translink website for transit schedules to the Burnaby campus.

Traffic notices

Watch for equipment and construction crews at the areas listed below and always obey signs, traffic controls, and traffic control personnel. Please remember that speed limits are lower in construction zones.

Parking

Complimentary convocation parking

Complimentary parking is available in the North Lot for graduands and guests.

Accessible parking

Accessible parking is available in the Central Parkade located under Convocation Mall (there is an elevator in the Maggie Benston Centre).

If you need a special parking space for someone with mobility impairment, please identify yourself to SFU security at our Information Centre (see campus map).

Students with mobility impairments

If you are a student with mobility impairment and use a wheelchair, scooter or crutches, special arrangements can be made for you, with a few days' notice. Please contact the Centre for Accessible Learning (778-782-3112) in advance.

i Parking will be extremely limited

  • We advise you to arrive early, car pool or take public transit.  Give yourself lots of time to find parking.
  • If you follow the directions on the convocation signage, traffic control staff will direct you to the complimentary convocation parking areas on campus.

Wayfinding

Upon parking or arriving by public transit, graduands (red line) should make their way to the AQ 3000 Southeast corner to pick up their parchment (step 1). Guests (green line) should proceed to Convocation Mall to find their seats.
