Know before you go

After arriving, graduands have 9 steps they need to follow to the most of their convocation day. Review each step before the ceremonies so you know where to go, when to be there and what to do.

Guests and tickets

Graduands can invite up to 3 guests in round 1 of tickets being released. Tickets are required for all guests in Convocation Mall.

Dress

We strongly encourage you to dress appropriately. If it is cool, wear layers and consider bringing a blanket. If it's warm, bring a water bottle. A water station can be found near the procession line ups at AQ 4000 North and outside Convocation Mall.

Graduands should be aware that they will be standing and walking for long periods and distances. Please wear appropriate footwear.

Weather

Ceremonies are held in Convocation Mall which is outdoors and covered. Unpredictable west coast weather can mean we experience rain, wind, cold and hot fronts. Guests should check the weather before attending to ensure they are comfortable during the ceremony.

Child-minding

Consider making arrangements with family or friends for child-minding while you are convocating as children and infants cannot sit in the graduand seating area.

Coat check
Our free coat check located near the regalia area (AQ 3000 Northeast concourse) is available to students and guests but is not liable for loss or theft. Unclaimed items are forwarded to SFU Security one hour after each ceremony.

Due to limited space and to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for all, this year we have implemented a restriction on bags in the celebration area.
