Climate Coverage During Elections: Report Launch + Training

April 09, 2025

Event Details:

Elections shape the future of climate policy, yet climate change remains underreported in mainstream media during election cycles. Our latest analysis of media coverage during the 2024 B.C. Provincial Election reveals that while party platforms, candidate profiles, and polling trends received extensive attention, climate coverage was largely overlooked by major broadcast news outlets.

Join us for the official launch of our report, which presents key findings from a province-wide media monitoring initiative conducted by 31 volunteers. This event will highlight critical gaps in election reporting and offer 10 actionable recommendations for improving climate journalism—insights that are especially urgent as we approach the 2025 Canadian federal election.

As part of this event, we’ll also provide a hands-on training session for journalists, communicators, and advocates. Participants will gain practical tools and resources to strengthen climate reporting during elections and beyond. Whether you’re a media professional, researcher, or climate advocate, this session will equip you with strategies to elevate climate coverage and ensure it gets the attention it deserves.
