Event Details:
Join us for a community gathering dedicated to creating a healthier future for Black communities, as we come together to address a crucial question:
How can we create a future where equitable access to essential resources empowers Black communities across BC to thrive?
We’re excited to launch Black Central, a new digital platform that connects Black individuals and families to culturally relevant services, making it easier to access healthcare, legal help, education support, housing resources, and more. Black Central also provides a unique opportunity for service providers to collaborate, maximizing collective impact to ensure that community needs are met holistically. Through this platform, Black Support is building a network of committed partners working together to dismantle systemic barriers and foster community well-being.
This event is a space for you to give feedback on Black Central’s features, help shape its future and explore how it can best serve the Black community. Join us for an inspiring evening of dialogue, and collective visioning as we break down barriers to well-being and equality.
Why are we gathered?
Black communities across British Columbia face systemic barriers, from anti-Black racism to economic inequities and limited access to vital resources like education, housing, and healthcare. These barriers prevent individuals and families from achieving a dignified and healthy life, limiting opportunities and perpetuating inequality.
Black Central offers a digital platform that not only connects Black communities with essential services tailored to their needs but also facilitates partnerships among service providers. By fostering collaborative networks, Black Central maximizes collective impact, ensuring culturally competent, accessible, and supportive services for Black individuals and families.
Through active engagement and collaboration, this event aims to:
- Build public awareness of Black Support’s mission and Black Central’s potential to drive systemic change,
- Strengthen partnerships with service providers to extend reach and impact of available resources,
- Gather community feedback to ensure Black Central is responsive to real needs and aspirations, and
- Inspire partnership from funders, researchers, and policymakers and community members to support sustainable growth and impact.
