Frequently asked questions

SFU Archives: 66016_066-39C

Can I share this event with friends I knew from SFU? Yes! We would love for you to share this event and the e-newsletter with friends and peers you knew from the early years of SFU.

I want to stay connected, but I can’t come to the reunion event – what are my options? Even if you are not able to attend the event on Aug 20, we encourage you to read the monthly Reunion Celebration e-newsletter we will archive on this site, as this will be a communication dedicated to sharing stories and memories about the early years of SFU and a great way for you to stay connected. You can also request to join the Charter and Early Years Student Facebook group.

Do I need a ticket? Yes, all attendees must have purchased a ticket to attend. Please refer to our Eventbrite page for all the details and ticket types.

Can I bring a guest? Alumni are welcome to invite up to two additional guests to purchase tickets. For example, Charter alumni who wish to bring along family members who are also SFU alumni or considering SFU for their education, or non-alumni spouses/partners who wish to share the reunion experience. All attendees must have a ticket.

What will we see during the campus tour? We are planning a fulsome walking tour of campus where you will be able to see some of the original buildings and sites such as the Academic Quadrangle and reflection pond, as well as some exciting new ones.

Is the campus tour accessible for different mobility methods?
We are prioritizing accessibility for all, in planning our tour route and stops. We do advise guests to wear comfortable footwear and bring mobility devices they may need during the tour. Attendees are welcome to purchase additional tickets for guests to support their experience at the event.

To help us best prepare for the event, please note any mobility and accessibility needs in your registration form during ticket purchase, or send us an email to provide us with more information (alumni@sfu.ca).

I am not comfortable with making the trek across campus for the tour due to distance, weather, or other reasons. Is there another option?
As an alternative to walking across campus, the staff at SFU Archives will also be offering a tour of their holdings. This offering will prioritize those who require physical accessibility and mobility support.

I am traveling in from out of town to join the reunion – where should I stay? SFU Alumni has secured a limited number of hotel rooms with Hilton Metrotown with a preferred rate for their Deluxe King Room for stays on Aug 19 and 20. Learn more.

I have some stories and materials from the early years, how can I share it with SFU? Did you know that SFU has an Archives team that acquires and holds records of historic value? You may be able to donate your materials to preserve as part of SFU’s history – check out their website to learn more.
