Lab safety training

Register below for Spring 2020 Laboratory safety training.

The courses listed below are delivered via a combination of in-person training sessions and online training modules and quizzes on SFU Canvas Learning Management System.

Select the safety training courses listed below that apply to your work at SFU.

In-person Fire extinguisher training sessions on Thursday, January 16 (60-minute sessions: 1 PM to 2 PM & 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM) in Facilities Services Salt Shed
2 lectures on Tuesday, January 14 and Wednesday, January 15 (9 AM to 12 PM both days) in Diamond Family Auditorium. In-person Lab Safety Practical training sessions on January 16, 17 & 20 (1 hour sessions between 9 AM to 12 PM) in SSC-C8055.
Lecture on Monday, January 13 (9 AM to 12 PM) in Halpern 126
Special Training, only for anyone new to working with radioactive materials (otherwise, see Refresher Training). Training offered once per semester in Jan, May, or Sept. More details are available on Radiation Safety website.

If you have registered for Safety Essentials Training and/or Laboratory Safety Training, you must select an in-person training session using the Calendar feature in Canvas once you have been added to the course. Once you receive the email confirmation that you have been added, go into the Canvas Calendar and click "Find appointment" to select the session that works for you.

 

Students are not immediately added to the Canvas course, but rather in batches starting after January 6, 2019.

Some examples include gas cylinder handling, PPE selection, pressure vessels, chemical storage, and so on.
