SAAM button campaign
January is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) at SFU. SAAM is a month-long series of events hosted by the Sexual Violence Support & Prevention Office (SVSPO) in collaboration with SFU and FIC partners every year. The purpose of SAAM is to raise awareness about sexual violence and to empower SFU and FIC students, faculty, and staff to engage with this complex topic in meaningful ways.
2021 SAAM Button Campaign
SFU and FIC campus community members are invited to wear SAAM buttons to promote conversations about what we can do--individually and collectively--to prevent sexual violence and to create a community of care for people who have experienced harm.
The COVID19_Safety Ambassador Team (CAT) will be handing out SAAM buttons on SFU’s Burnaby, Surrey and Vancouver campuses throughout January. CAT members are trained in COVID19 safety measures and will observe physical distancing and sanitization measures when distributing the buttons.
SFU students, staff and faculty who are on campus can also pick up their SAAM button at the following locations:
- Burnaby campus: CPS access point guards at WMC 2000 and 10000 Level Blusson Hall (East) Entrance, or from the COVID-19 Safety Ambassador Team (CAT) members in common areas
- Surrey campus: SRYC Main Security Entrance, or from the COVID-19 Safety Ambassador Team (CAT) members in common areas
- Vancouver campus: Harbour Centre Main Security Booth, or from the COVID-19 Safety Ambassador Team (CAT) members in common areas
The 2021 SAAM button campaign is presented by the Sexual Violence Support & Prevention Office and Campus Public Safety.
