SFU Safe App

SFU is dedicated to keeping our campuses safe and secure for everyone.

SFU Safe is the university's official safety mobile app. It lets you easily access important safety and security information, resources, and services with just a few clicks—whenever and wherever you are on any of our three campuses.

Turn on your push notifications and receive important alerts right when you need them.

  • Emergency Support: Instantly connect with Campus Public Safety (CPS) and other emergency hotlines for swifter response and assistance.
  • Campus resources: Access campus safety and security information all in one convenient mobile app.
  • Critical services: Take proactive steps to manage your safety and well-being on campus and easily get support, when needed.

How to download SFU Safe app

We recommend all SFU faculty, staff, students, campus visitors, to download the SFU Safe app. It is free and available via the iOS/ Apple Store for iPhone or Google Play Store for Android devices.

  1. Open the iOS/Apple Store or Google Play Store app on your mobile device.
  2. Search for SFU Safe.
  3. Download and install the app.

Note: Standard message and data rates apply. Device must have calling capabilities to use some features. 

Turn on your push notifications to receive emergency alerts 

Receive timely and important alerts during an emergency or critical event on campus.

To enable push notifications on your device, follow these steps: 

For Apple devices: 

  1. Go to Settings and select "Notifications." 
  2. Select SFU Safe. 
  3. Turn on "Allow Notifications."  

For Android devices:

  1. Go to your phone's settings, and select "Notifications." 
  2. Select "App Notifications." 
  3. Look for "SFU Safe" and turn on notifications.  

To ensure your notifications are enabled using the SFU Safe app:

  1. Open SFU Safe app.
  2. Go to "App Settings" located at the bottom of the main page. 
  3. Scroll down until you see "Notifications Settings."
  4. Click "Enable", if disabled. The button will turn red once enabled.
