SFU's Campus Public Safety (CPS) team members are leading the way in the training and certifications they complete. Here are some of the courses, certifications, training and/or workshops required:

Please note, both our vendor GardaWorld Security Services and our in-house Campus Public Safety professional staff have training themes that align, but the specifics and depth of our vendor's training may differ.

• All CPS Supervisors are OFA 3 certified, all others are OFA 1 & 2
• Mental Health First Aid (Canada) certification
• Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) for our Resident Liaison Supervisor
• Crisis Response
• Caring for your Team (Self-Care and Debriefing Frameworks, MHCC/Working Mind) 
• Verbal De-escalation
• Indigenous Cultural Safety (e.g., San'yas Training)
• Facilitated Unconscious Bias and Lived BIPOC Experiences Session
• Facilitated EDI workshop
