Visio
What is Microsoft Visio?
Microsoft Visio is a real-time collaborative data visualization and diagramming app. From flowcharts to network diagrams, it includes many templates, stencils, and icons to help you visually communicate complex ideas.
Visio in Microsoft 365
Visio in Microsoft 365 is available to all faculty, staff, and students with an SFU Microsoft account. It includes everything needed to quickly sketch out ideas and colloaborate with others online.
Visio in Microsoft 365 includes:
- Templates for general diagrams and basic flowcharts
- Real-time collaboration, commenting, and sharing with the Visio web app or the Visio app in Microsoft Teams
Visio Plan 2
Visio Plan 2 is available to faculty and staff upon request who need more advanced features to help with visual diagramming at the university.
Includes everything in Visio in Microsoft 365, plus:
- Thousands of shapes and Microsoft product icons
- Cross-functional flowcharts, detailed network diagrams, and IT diagrams—Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Software and database diagrams—entity relationship diagrams (ERD), Unified Modeling Language (UML 2.5)

- Access to more than 250,000 shapes and various partner-created solutions
