Booklet Busts Myths about Feminism
By Anonymous GSWS Graduate Student
Designed by one of the graduate students at SFU’s Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies, Feminazis: Are They Really? is a digital booklet that attempts to counter the negative image of feminism by discussing some of the most prevalent misconceptions concerning the movement—from accusations of misandry to the “threat” of female hypersexuality.
Let’s play a quick word association game; What comes to your mind when you read the word “feminism”?
Is your answer one of or similar to any of these: killjoy, separatism, Western, misguided, abortion, ugliness, man-hater, loose, irrational, stubbornness, immoral, masculine, radical, white, obsolete, selfish, angry, exclusive, ungrateful, ignorant, groundless, victimization, single?
If so, then you will want to read Feminazis: Are They Really?

As the term “booklet” suggests, this document is very concise, so you can read all of it in less than an hour! Even though the primary audience for this booklet is SFU students, its simple and (hopefully) witty language makes it a suitable read for adults outside academia as well. So if you’ve enjoyed its content, don’t hesitate to share it with your friends and family.
