"Live as if you were to die tomorrow; Learn as if you were to live forever."
Hadia Aslam
Educational Technology and Learning Design doctoral student in the Faculty of Education
I have been a learner throughout my life. Love for learning is inherent as I was born in a family of teachers. I am adventurous and fun loving. I love to read books and watch movies.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO SFU?
SFU is world renowned for its excellence in research and student diversity. Besides, very few universities in the world are currently offering a PhD in ETLD. I was always interested to pursue my research in educational technology, so nothing would have been a greater choice than SFU.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR RESEARCH OR YOUR PROGRAM TO A FAMILY MEMBER?
My program focuses on how technology can be used in educational settings for improving the instructional/ training/ learning goals. The program also aims to facilitate learning and improving performance by creating and managing appropriate technological resources.
WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT SFU?
Words can't describe my feelings at SFU. I am enjoying every single moment here. I love the campus in the serene mountains, the peace and the calmness. It is some other world, probably heaven.
HAVE YOU BEEN THE RECIPIENT OF ANY MAJOR OR DONOR-FUNDED AWARDS? IF SO, PLEASE TELL US WHICH ONES AND A LITTLE ABOUT HOW THE AWARDS HAVE IMPACTED YOUR STUDIES AND/OR RESEARCH.
I have been awarded the Graduate Entrance Scholarship and it has been very helpful for me as I am international student. This has helped me to study without being worried about the fee.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PROGRAM/POSTDOC POSITION TO SOMEONE STILL SEARCHING FOR A PROGRAM OR POSTDOC POSITION?
This program will open up many doors of opportunities for you because the field of ETLD is evolving.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE TO SHARE?
Thank you to everyone at the SFU. I am proud to be a part of this learning community.
