Spring 2017
The cannabis plant (Cannabis sativa), family Cannabaceae, commonly known as marijuana, has been cultivated by humans since the beginning of recorded history and has been used as a medicinal and mood altering agent as far back as 7,000 B.C.
While some modern societies continue to indulge in the common use of marijuana, a ban on the plant's cultivation and use still exists in many countries worldwide.
The Government of Canada is cautiously moving to remove the prohibition of marijuana, starting with new regulations for medical marijuana which were announced in August 2016.
Please join us for a series of free public talks by global experts in the field of medical marijuana.
We will review the current state of research on the general topic of marijuana for medical purposes, provide space for an informed discussion on the legal aspects of marijuana use and provide perspectives from the licensed production, genetics, pharmaceutical utility, medical profession, and human behavioural aspects of marijuana.
