 This
project as I'm sure is the case with many others, had its problems and
challenges as is to be expected. Firstly it was a challenge to
find appropriate data for my original project concept. In the end
the scope had to be rethought. Once the data had been settled on,
the next difficulties were met when it came to understanding what the
data actually was. This is because the original source data was
Trim Data, and therefore, some of the file names seemed somewhat
encoded. So definitions of Trim Data file names was
required. Following this, the next problems which arose came in
the learning of FME Translator to be able to translate the ESRI
shapefiles into IDRISI vector files. It took a few tries to be
certain that the new versions were all using the same reference.
In the end they were all converted to use US83tm10. Once they
were all based on the same reference system most of the issues were
easily dealt with.
