Athletic achievement
After claiming three National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics championships and many individual titles, SFU took home the United States Sports Academy's Director’s Cup for the best overall collegiate athletics programs in the NAIA—for the sixth time in eight years. At the 2004 Summer Olympics, Rachel Schill, Erin Cumpstone, Angela Lichty, Auburn Sigurdson, and Sasha Olson joined coach Mike Renney to play for the national softball team. In Athens, they connected with former Clan student-athletes Daniel Igali (wrestling), and Emilie Mondor, Jill Savege and Carol Montgomery (track).
