Research by Visiting Scholars
The Department of Linguistics will accept applications from visiting scholars throughout the academic year. If you would like to become a visiting scholar in our department you must first secure the consent of a faculty member who is willing to collaborate with you during your stay at SFU. Then you will need to send us your CV. Please note that due to the limited number of visiting scholars that we can accept, your research interests and achievements should be very closely related to those of the faculty member you would like to contact.
Before you contact a faculty member, please note the following:
- Visiting scholars are entitled to library and internet privileges but are not normally eligible for financial support or use of departmental resources (office space, computer, photocopier, etc.).
- Classes can only be audited and prior approval of the course instructor is required.
- You will receive a letter from us once you have been accepted as a visiting scholar in our department. If you require a visa for Canada, our department cannot assist you with your application to Immigration Canada.
