Linguistics Department Writing Centre

Welcome to the Linguistics Department Writing Centre (LDWC). We offer one-on-one consultations for academic writing with a linguistic twist. You don't actually have to be a Linguistics or Cognitive Science student to visit us. As long as you are enrolled in a Linguistics or Cognitive Science course, we are happy to offer feedback and guidance on your writing assignments for those particular courses.

Need a consultation?

The Writing Centre offers tutoring sessions both in-person and online. If you would like to book an appointment, please follow the detailed instructions provided in the How to Sign Up section below.

Please book an appointment to discuss any aspect of the writing process. This includes planning, discussing your thesis, argumentation, paper and paragraph structure, punctuation, and grammar. The tutors at the LDWC are passionate and savvy individuals who would love nothing more than to help you continually revise and improve your writing. We hope to see your face at least a few times each term!

Requirements

  • In order to use the service, you MUST register for a session in advance. As spots are limited, you are required to register for an appointment and send us your draft by 11:59pm the day before your session (see further instructions below).
  • Note that registering for the service and having a no-show will NOT result in earning RPS credits.
