Many students choose to study Linguistics because they envision themselves working in a helping profession. One popular career choice is Speech-Language Pathology (SLP). To pursue a career in SLP, a graduate program is required, and admission to one of the few graduate programs in SLP in Canada is highly competitive.

Most students who consider applying to graduate school for SLP will visit our undergraduate advisor for help with understanding the application process. The Department of Linguistics advisor, Rita Parmar, has assisted numerous prospective SLP applicants over the years, and successful applicants will often share their news with Rita. This year we have received news from seven SFU students that they will be starting a graduate program in SLP in 2018!
