SFU Linguistics Department faculty, graduate students, and staff gathered together on Thursday, July 18th for the Department Summer Barbecue. The luncheon took place in the Blusson Hall Courtyard.

After weeks of scorching temperatures, the Courtyard provided a welcoming shaded space in which to share a meal and catch up. Members of the Department discussed their ongoing research activities and upcoming events such as Welcome Day, Fall Colloquia (announcements forthcoming), and a PhD Defence at the end of this month.

With Summer Term classes wrapping up before long and exams coming soon, much time is now being invested into planning for the new academic year. September 3rd will see the release of the LINGLink Newsletter, including the Chair's words of welcome for 2024/25, an introduction to the new graduate student cohort, and important information on health and safety.
