A common goal for many students in the Department of Linguistics is to pursue a career in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) or Audiology after graduating. To pursue a career in thsese fields in Canada a graduate deegree is required and admission to the graduate programs can be highly competitive.

The Department of Linguistics undergraduate advisor, Rita Parmar, has helped many prospective SLP and Audiology applicants over the years and she often gets to hear the good news from these students. This year we received news that ten SFU students will be starting in SLP graduate programs across Canada in Fall 2022. Of these ten students there are seven who will be staying in Vancouver to attend the University of British Columbia, two who will be moving to Edmonton to attend the University of Alberta, and one who will be heading to Quebec to attend McGill University!
