The SFU Philosophy Departments is home to several research initiatives.

The Laboratory for Logic and Experimental Philosophy (LLEP) serves an axis for growing number of people doing research in the area of preservationist logic and has since grown both in size and scope. The main objective of the lab is to support and advance philosophical research that exploits mathematical and other scientific methods.

The McDonnell Project in Philosophy and the Neurosciences is an international, research project in the new interdisciplinary field of ÔneurophilosophyÕÑvery roughly, the attempt understand a wide range of traditional philosophical problems using the resources of contemporary neuroscience. It is funded by a James S. McDonnell Centennial Fellowship.
