Event Recap: Wellness Days 2023
SFU's Vancouver campus has been focusing on building healthy campus communities for over 10 years. Wellness resources, programs and workshops have been offered to empower faculty, staff, and students to stay active, to be physically and mentally healthy, and to foster a strong sense of belonging. Amongst these, an annual event called “Wellness Day” came to life in 2020, and survived the COVID-19 pandemic with online sessions.
In March 2023, the program was brought back in person, with 3 days of exciting workshops and gatherings, including seasonal wellness and yoga, an acrylic painting on canvas bag workshop, visits from therapy dogs from St. John's Ambulance, and a well-attended Wellness Fair featuring SFU wellness services and local vendors. The energy at the events was buzzing with excitement, curiosity, joy and awe! SFU Vancouver students, staff, and faculty loved the variety of wellness activities, the samples and prizes, and also the opportunity to see people face-to-face again.
One of the major highlights was the Dog Therapy event. Trigzee, Inca, and Elvis provided so much attention and love, they all needed to take long naps after the event. It’s amazing to see our visitors “melted” by the unstoppable puppy love!
