This free event is open to all SFU students, staff and faculty and aims to positively influence the health and wellbeing of the SFU community. Join us online for a full day of activities including meditation, physiotherapy, gratitude journaling, a mental health dialogue, healthy cooking demos and more. Whether you join us for one event or all, we hope that you will learn something new, find time to rest and connect, and have some fun with us!

How Do You Practice Wellness?

You can take a workout selfie, snap a photo of the view on your walk, show us a game or craft you’re working on – the options are endless! Post your photo on social media using the hashtag, #SFUWellnessDay, OR email the photo to vanexec@sfu.ca. The winner of a grocery store gift card will be announced on March 22!

Mental Health Dialogue with Dr. Scott Lear

The pandemic has brought with it a toll on many people's mental health. Whether it's from the health concerns of the virus, financial insecurities or lost social connections, few have been unaffected. Often people suffer in silence, concerned with societal stigma about speaking up or seeking help. Sharing stories and bringing these challenges into the open can help reduce the stigma. In December 2020, Dr. Scott Lear was experiencing an especially dark period and would like to share his story, and how helpful it's been for him to open up.

Dr. Scott Lear is a Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University and the inaugural Pfizer/Heart and Stroke Foundation Chair in Cardiovascular Prevention Research at St. Paul's Hospital.
