Tuition Payment

At SFU, our confirmation of enrolment process for government student financial assistance (loans and grant funding) starts about two weeks before classes start.

Student loans and grants are typically disbursed starting the official first day of each term.

We encourage students to apply for student financial assistance early in order to receive their funding before the tuition deadline, as student aid applications may take 4-6 weeks to be fully processed (the process may be further delayed if a student needs to amend their application or appeal their assessment).

If you have outstanding tuition and fees from your current or previous term when we confirm your enrolment for student loans and grants, SFU will automatically deduct up to your current, outstanding balance from your expected funding. This is an automatic process and will not take into account if you have signed up for a Payment Plan through Flywire, or automatic payroll deductions if you are a Research Assistant (RA) or Teaching Assistant (TA).

Your fees must be paid in full by the payment deadlines. Otherwise, you may be placed on financial hold and charged a monthly interest penalty by the Student Accounts department. Your financial hold would be removed by Student Accounts when you pay the outstanding balance in full.
