The Statistical Society of Canada (SSC) certifies the credentials of professional statisticians. Students graduating from the Statistics major or honours program may be eligible for the Associate Statistician (AStat) designation. The Canadian Institute of Actuaries administers the University Accreditation Program (UAP) for actuarial education. Through the UAP, students who complete an accredited degree program can accelerate their journey to professional qualification as an Associate of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (ACIA), needing to pass only the ACIA Capstone exam and some ACIA modules after graduation. Alternate professional qualification pathways through the Society of Actuaries and the Casualty Actuarial Society are also available.
