Develop Fun Apps for Statistics Teaching (FAST) with R Shiny
A hard reality of teaching introductory statistics for non-science students is that we have a very heterogeneous group of students, in terms of both professional interests and learning preferences. Furthermore, in many social science majors, students report a high level of statistics anxiety or students are not very mathematically inclined which results in a negative impact on learning and performance. And it is well known that web-based applications can greatly enhance statistic education and improve the learning experience by illustrating fundamental concepts and key methods through simulations and visualizations. The proposed FAST project will design and develop interactive learning tools with the R Shiny package for a better understanding of key concepts and data-driven tools for simple data analysis.
