ABSTRACT:

  • Review our world’s Power and Energy use history through the ages, from the long Muscle Power Age into the Fossil Fuel Age and on to our present Global Warming & Climate Change (GW&CC) impasse.
  • Review the present alternatives and possible approaches to finding ‘breakthroughs, and;
  • Explore the technical, engineering, financial, commercial, social and political restraints to moving forward efficiently and effectively to find the desperately needed solutions before the Planet reaches the GW&CC “tipping point”. 

BIOGRAPHY:
Stan Ridley, is an international electric power executive with more than 40 years of broad experience in engineering, policy/planning, operations, environmental studies, licensing & regulatory matters, Aboriginal affairs, project management, contract development and negotiations, as well as project financing, legal aspects, construction and commissioning of hydroelectric and thermal electric utility generation and transmission facilities, as well as “green” energy projects such as biomass and wind powered generation.
Stan’s experience includes more than 20-years with B.C. Hydro where his positions included Regional Production Manager for ¼ of the B.C. Hydro generation & transmission systems, and President of B.C. Hydro International. In the Private Sector Stan’s experience includes 11-years as Senior Vice President (Power) for SNC-Lavalin and 4-years as an executive of Buchanan Renewables a biomass power company with its head office in Geneva, Switzerland.
