FIG Seminar - RRIF or Annuity

TitleRRIF or Annuity – Which one is right for you?

Presenter:     Clay Gillespie

Date:     Tuesday, February 28th at 12 noon

Place:     Room 114, Halpern Centre, Burnaby Campus

In most cases when designing your retirement income strategy you will have three major concerns: 1) running out of money, 2) maintaining your standard of living, and 3) leaving something for your estate.  This session will go through how and when to use a RRIF and/or life annuity to meet your income needs.  RRIFs and life annuities both offer unique advantages and disadvantages that must be analyzed when making this decision.  We want to go beyond the simple definitions and into a more in- depth discussion of where each strategy may work and why.

Clay is a financial advisor, portfolio manager and Managing Director with Rogers Group Financial.  Among other qualifications he holds a BBA (Finance) from SFU.  He specializes in retirement income planning and has been quoted by numerous publications including the Globe & Mail, Toronto Star, Vancouver Sun, The Province, National Post, and Money Sense. He has been helping Canadians retire successfully since 1992. He is also the author of the book “Create The Retirement You Really Want.

We welcome all members from the SFU community, and other interested people. The session is free and requires no registration.
