January FIG Seminar

January 12, 2016

We would like to announce the rescheduled date for the next FIG (Financial Interest Group) Seminar that was recently cancelled.

Title: Retirement Challenges and Opportunities: The next five years.

             Presenter: Misa Zivkovic

Date: Tuesday, Jan. 12th at 12 noon

Place: Room 114, Halpern Centre, Burnaby Campus

The next FIG seminar will deal with three important investment topics: Reverse mortgages; an update analysis of annuities, and new RIF and LIF regulations. This seminar will deal with optimizing ones income through combining the benefits of these three investment opportunities.

These topics will be discussed within the broad context of the challenges retirees and others will face within the next 5 years. This includes the possibility of rising interest rates, equity market trends, changes to the regulatory environment, and the effect new mortality tables will have on annuity payouts. BC  pension changes introduced this week that can affect many of these funds will also be discussed

Misa Zivkovic will lead this seminar with a 45 minute presentation on these topics followed by a discussion period. He is well trained in these areas, with 20 years of retirement planning and investment experience. He works as a Financial Advisor and Certified Financial Planner with Raymond James Ltd. He held a similar seminar for the SFURA in May, 2009 which was well attended and well received.

We welcome all members from the SFU community, and other interested people. The session is free and requires no registration. We (the FIG group of Phil Mah, Tom O'Shea,  and Marv Wideen)  welcome suggestions for future seminars.
