Preserving Pension Income in Uncertain Markets

April 13, 2010

Time: 12:00PM–1:30PM

On behalf of Financial Planning group of the SFU Retirees Association, I would like to invite you to attend the seminar "Preserving Pension Income in Uncertain Markets".

The presenters will be Kevin Bogle, CFP, and Misa Zivkovic, CFP, Point Grey Pension Management, Raymond James.

Large corporate and government pension plans have been hit badly by the recent market crises. Two years later, governments and corporate pension plans still do not have a new strategy for addressing their growing liability. This talk is focused on a pension income preservation strategy powered by the new domestic and global opportunities. The presenters will introduce a management model for uncertain markets based on a combination of Exchange-traded fund investments and different types of annuities. The model provides a stable income stream and significantly reduces market and currency risk. It also eliminates some restrictive pension regulation requirements and addresses longevity issues. Each participant will be provided with printed information about an investment management platform and various reports.

Kevin Bogle and Misa Zivkovic are both Certified Financial Planners. Kevin Bogle has 18 years of experience in financial advising, with a special interest in retirement, estate, tax, and insurance planning. Misa Zivkovic has worked within major Canadian financial institutions for the past 16 years as a financial planner; last year he spoke to the SFURA Financial Interest Group about annuities. Both have given presentations to departments and investment clubs at UBC.

Marilyn Bowman will chair the session.
