"Urban planning for mountainous landscapes — the case of the North Shore." A Guided Tour Led by Mike Roberts.

Fri, 18 Sep 2009 9:00 AM

Meeting place: We will assemble at Chapman Way, North Vancouver.

Reservations: As soon as possible, email Tom O'Shea, informing him how many persons will be accompanying you on this outing.

Directions: If you come from Burnaby or Vancouver via the Second Narrows Bridge, take exit 22A which is the Mount Seymour Parkway exit. Drive east along the Parkway for 1.5 kilometres and then turn left into Riverside Drive (at the lights). Drive north on Riverside Drive for a couple of kilometres and turn right onto Chapman Way where we will meet at a small park at the base of the bluff. (Note: if you use Google map to check out the location of the meeting place, be aware that Exit 22A is mis-labeled "22B").

Stops during the tour: We will move from stop to stop using our cars. There will be five stops; the longest hike being 800 metres. We may stop mid-morning, in Edgemont Village (N. Van) for a latte at Delaney's or Starbucks.

Lunch options:
(1) For those on the tour, we should be arriving in Park Royal Village for a pub lunch around 12.30-1:00 pm.

(2) For those who want only to attend the lunch(!!) we are going to the Taphouse Pub in Park Royal Village (the new part of Park Royal). It is located across the street from Whole Foods where, if you wish, you can lunch on healthy granolas, a variety of tofus and juices made from a whole range of dodgy plants. For my part I am going to have a pint and a sandwich in the Taphouse.
