Time: 5:30PM–9:00PM

Evelyn and Leigh Palmer have graciously offered their home for a musical evening. The event, starting at 5:30 pm, will be centred on the choral group Chemsemble (20-or-so members — faculty, staff, and students — of the Faculties of Science and Education, including five SFURA members). We will start with a group sing-along as soon after 5:30 as enough people arrive and we'll serve appetizers at the same time. The choir will sing from about 6:30 to 7:15 and we'll follow this with a pot-luck dinner, with the option of another sing-along, musical games or entertainment by other instrumentalists/singers after dinner. If you wish to contribute musically, please bring your instrument. The Palmer home is on Deer Lake in Central Burnaby and we hope for a beautiful summer evening overlooking the lake.

We ask that you bring a pot-luck dish (not all salads, please) keeping in mind that we expect to provide members of Chemsemble (as well as the audience) with sufficient food for the evening. Suitable beverages would also be welcome. You are also asked to suggest two songs (in advance) that you would like to sing and we will arrange to have the lyrics ready for all to sing. Those who can't sing can do a Milli Vanilli imitation.

If you have lawn chairs, please bring them. Small tables, such as TV trays, suitable for the deck or lawn would also be welcome. Don't forget to dress warmly as the evening may be cool.

There is some diagonal parking across the street from the Palmers' house, and lots of parking nearby at the Shadbolt Centre. You can stop by the house to drop off passengers, food, drinks, chairs, etc., but we would like to reserve the driveway for the cars of those who have mobility problems.

Once you let us know you plan to attend, we will send you the address and a map. We may have to limit the number of attendees, given the space available, so please let us know as soon as you can.
