Steven Davis, Department of Philosophy: "Volunteering in the Developing World: Academics for Higher Education and Development" Education is one of the key elements required to achieve sustainable development. A great deal of aid money and effort has been spent on primary and secondary education in developing countries, but relatively little attention has been given to higher education. AHED/UPESED's goal is to contribute to sustainable development by sending highly trained and experienced college and university staff, administrators and professors, as well as related professionals, to share their expertise with institutions and ministries of higher education in developing countries.
