Theatre Matinee - Gold Mountain Guest
April 18, 2001
It’s the early 20th century on the Canadian west coast, and a determined Chinese immigrant worker lives in a harsh world of back-breaking labour and eternal debts, lightened only by the prospect of a reunion with his wife and only child. Suddenly, one violent act puts all that he has worked for in jeopardy.
A fascinating and provocative new story, told from three different and revealing perspectives.
Simon Johnston has also written RUNNING DOG, PAPER TIGER; WILDCAT; THE GIVEAWAYS; and YACHT PEOPLE. He is the newly appointed Producer and General Manager of Richmond Gateway Theatre
