She Stoops to Conquer Theatre Matinée
Rich and handsome, Marlowe is famous for his ability to charm barmaids, but is tongue-tied in the presence of proper young ladies. Determined to win his heart, Miss Kate Hardcastle casts off her finery and dons the dress of a serving girl, with hilarious results. Witty and quick-paced, She Stoops to Conquer is a comedy of manners which features the lavish sets and costumes that are a Playhouse trademark and makes this one of the most beloved classics of all time.
Canada's acclaimed Director, Christopher Newton, returns to the Playhouse from the Shaw Festival to direct this hilarious play.
Our group will be hosted by Dr. Peter Buitenhuis, Professor of English, Emeritus. Peter has arranged for a member of the cast to join him in leading a discussion of the play with our group after the performance.
