Dear SFU Retirees, 

On behalf of the Retirees Association (SFURA) and SFU's Human Resources Department (HR), I am delighted to announce that an initiative to improve the Pacific Blue Cross (PBC) health benefits plan, for all retirees who are on that plan, has come to a successful conclusion, effective April 1, 2023. 

SFURA would like to thank our volunteer Benefits Committee along with Steve An, SFU HR Pension & Benefits Consultant, for all their collaborative work to find the best balance between desired improvements and costs. 

SFURA would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to Yabome Gilpin-Jackson, SFU VP People Equity and Inclusion, and Chris Hatty, SFU Executive Director Human Resources and Labour Relations, for their support to ensure these improvements came to fruition.
