SFURA 25th Anniversary

Please save the date for our 25th Anniversary luncheon on June 15, with featured speaker Joy Johnson, President of Simon Fraser University. The attached graphic gives you more information. A formal invitation requesting a response will be sent to you in a few weeks.
Background: In 1998 SFU had a few hundred retirees, of whom eight started the SFU Retirees Association. Today, we have over 1200 members, with another thousand colleagues projected to join our group over the next decade.
As of our AGM in Fall 2022, all SFU retirees now automatically become members of the SFURA, and there is no membership fee. Please see the PDF(at bottom) for more information about the Association, including opportunities to stay connected with each other (and how to get free parking at the Burnaby campus).
We have recently achieved significant improvements to the Pacific Blue Cross (PBC) retiree health plan and continue to work towards improved retiree benefits in general. We organize several social opportunities for our members each year. Soon we will be launching a new graduate student scholarship fund for SFU’s 60th anniversary. Also, a talented team of retirees is writing a book on SFU's vibrant early arts period (1965-75) which we aim to have published in time for SFU's 60th, and for the opening of the Marianne and Edward Gibson Art Museum on Burnaby campus.
We welcome your inquiries and participation, whether it’s for online conversations and in-person gatherings, or to get involved in the running of the Association.
