SFU Wearables & Gear Accelerator Program
Thanks to a partnership with Mitacs and support from SFU Innovates, SFU's Personalized Lightweight Apparel Network (PLANet) is looking for industry collaborators in the Canadian wearables and gear ecosystem. The funds made available through this program will help partner-companies reduce their research and development (R&D) costs by creating collaborative R&D projects with SFU researchers.

Program Details
Founded at SFU, PLANet connects Metro Vancouver’s industry leaders in wearables and gear innovations with BC’s strengths in materials science, biomedical physiology and kinesiology, engineering, interactive arts & technology, and innovative commercialization. For five years starting in May 2021, the SFU Wearables and Gear Accelerator will provide $5.1 million in funding for graduate student and postdoctoral fellow Accelerate internships. These internships will connect Canadian companies with innovative SFU researchers for the purpose of developing new technologies that improve the quality of our lives.
