Equity frameworks for municipal planning
Many Canadian municipalities are looking to create policies to advance their work towards equity. However, this is a new area for many planners, and there are different ways to approach equity work.
Together with INTERACT and LevelUP Planning, we undertook an environmental scan, documenting the evolution and content of equity policy documents across various Canadian cities. This scan offered a lens into how different urban centers approach and prioritize equity in their policy-making processes.
Furthermore, we engaged in key informant interviews that captured lessons learned and best practices for the implementation of equity policy documents, specifically in the context of transportation planning.
