Raman Based All-Optical Control of Solid-State Qubits
Nicholas Brunelle, SFU Physics
Location: Online
Synopsis
As solid-state quantum defects have garnered interest as potential quantum computing qubit candidates, the variety of methods for initialization, manipulation, and readout has grown. For a number of these systems the initialization and readout of the spin qubit is done optically, while the manipulation is carried out using microwave (MW) or radio frequency (RF) fields. All-optical control aims to simplify spin qubit control by removing the dependence of MW or RF fields, increasing the scalability and viability of solid-state spin qubits. This talk will focus on how detuned Raman schemes show potential for achieving all-optical control in solid-state defects that have a lambda system configuration of spin state optical transitions.
