AKCSE National Math Competition 2025 Announcement

The National Math and Science Competition (NMSC) is organized by the Association of Korean-Canadian Scientists and Engineers (AKCSE). The math competition is open for students with grade between 4 and 11, regardless of their nationality and cultural backgrounds. The competition problems are developed by professionals considering the current curricular of the Canadian public education system. The NMSC committee will provide feedback including average, score ranges and percentiles through which students understand their performance and position among their peer group. The NMSC committee also endows awards for outstanding participants (2~3 students in each grade) to promote and encourage academic achievement. The exam committee and administration of AKCSE make every effort for the successful event and we encourage your active participation.

AKCSE is pleased to announce that the National Math Competition (NMC) 2025 will be held on May 3, 2025. The goal of the NMC is to promote interest in mathematics and careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. BC school math teachers are invited to make questions.

  • Qualification: Students enrolled in British Columbia schools, from Grade 4 through Grade 11.
  • Date & Time: 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM on May 3, 2025 (Saturday).
  • Exam hour: 60 minutes for Grades 4-8; 90 minutes for Grades 9-11. All students must be checked in 30 minutes before the competition. Calculators and Cell phones are not allowed.
  • Scope: The exam problems will be based on the Canadian curriculum.
  • Location: Simon Fraser University, Burnaby Campus. 8888 University Drive, Burnaby. Further details (building name and room number) will be announced before May 1.
  • Registration: April 1, 2025 ~ April 28, 2025. Online registration only.
  • Parents Program: Will be announced before May 1, 2025.
  • Award: National Winners from across Canada (1st, 2nd, 3rd Place) will be announced. Students will receive notification of the results by end of May. Details regarding the award ceremony date, time, and location will be notified.

Online registration only. Pay the registration fee $30 via e-transfer by akcsevancouver@gmail.com.

When you transfer the registration fee, please specify the sender by adding student full name and school name (not parent name) in the message field. For example, add “Eundeok Mun, RE Mountain Secondary” in the memo.

Participants are not fully registered until they have completed their payment.
