Synopsis
Determining how quantum states become classical requires a clear understanding of the behavior of quantum states on the macroscopic level. In this talk, I will present a model for characterizing the macroscopic behavior of a quantum system. This model describes how the macroscopic behavior of a quantum system can be related to its coherence. In this framework, a quantum system interacts with its environment, which leads to its decoherence. In this interaction, the environment eliminates the nonclassical properties of the macroscopic quantum state, effectively reducing the state into a classical one.
