Filming on roads will take place on the Burnaby campus on Sunday, July 14th resulting in the temporary closure of some sections of roads, as follows:

When:

Sunday, July 14th (2024)

Road closures may begin as early as 8:00am, continuing through the day, but not anticipated to extend beyond 9:00pm.

Where:

- The section of Gaglardi Way between South Campus Road and the University Drive East/University Drive West junction north of the Transportation Centre

- The section of University Drive East between Gaglardi Way and Arts Road

- The section of University Drive West between Gaglardi Way and the West Parkade north access lane

Work to be completed:

Filming on campus roads. This will involve production vehicles being staged and driven/filmed along Halpern Lane and University Drive East through University Drive West.

Expected interruptions:

1. The sections of roads outlined in the map will be closed to public traffic, restricted to transit buses, production vehicles and equipment only.

2. Detours can be expected. 

3. Delays may be anticipated on approach to road closure areas.

4. Pedestrians in the vicinity of filming will be asked to hold (wait to proceed) or detour.

5. Cyclists and other mobility device operators in the vicinity of filming will be asked to hold or detour.

6. The Central Parkade and Construction parking lot off Gaglardi Way will be closed.

7. The West Parkade will be open but accessible via University Drive West only.

Comments

Transit bus service will be in operation but may be held (delayed) in the vicinity of filming for up to a 3 minute period.

Watch for road closed and detour signs, equipment, production crew and traffic control personnel working in the areas outlined above and please watch for pedestrians and cyclists when travelling detour routes.

Where:

University Drive East, between Tower Road and Nelson Way.

Work to be completed:

Construction of Burnaby Fire Department Fire Station 8. 

Expected interruptions:

1. The westbound right traffic lane will be closed during the project period to accommodate construction vehicles, equipment and related activity. The center westbound lane will remain open to traffic.

2. The Multi-Use Path (MUP) will be temporarily closed at times to accommodate construction activity. Pedestrians will be detoured during temporary closures of the MUP.

Comments

Watch for equipment, construction vehicles and crew working in the area.

Watch for temporary construction signs and flag person pedestrian & traffic control during the day when work activity is in progress.
