POLYPARTY
Wellness program launches for Poly Party members
Fitness, nutrition and stress management are important tools that support personal wellbeing and allow individuals to bring their best selves to work.
In order to support a healthy and sustainable workplace, a new Employee Wellness Program is now available for members of the Poly Party at Simon Fraser University (SFU). The initiative will benefit Poly Party members, including carpenters, electrical workers, shift engineers, painters, machinists, teamsters, plumbers and more. Their work is essential to keeping our Burnaby campus running smoothly for all students, faculty and staff.
Funding for an employee wellness program was negotiated during the previous round of bargaining between the university and the Poly Party. In the spring of 2022, a series of extensive consultations with the community and the union was initiated to ensure the wellness program was structured in a way that most benefited Poly Party member employees.
Eligible Poly Party members will receive $500 per year to support their health and wellbeing for the following expenses:
Fitness classes and memberships that promote health and wellness
Fitness equipment such as running shoes, stationary bikes, weights, and more
Wellbeing and work-life balance programs including nutrition counselling, fitness assessments, stress management and more
Wellness education initiatives on topics such as meditation courses, personal training, and lifestyle skills
