Communication master's student in the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology

I am a dual degree student from China, my disciplinary background is Broadcast Media Arts and I am currently a student in the School of Communication.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO SFU?

Like SFU's strategic vision of engaging the world, my program is a Global Communication Master of Arts and it is a great journey to learn and exchange cultures and ideas with students from all over the world.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR RESEARCH OR YOUR PROGRAM TO A FAMILY MEMBER?

It was a great learning experience, I will learn about communication studies and exchange ideas with international students from all over the world to inspire my thinking.

WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT SFU?

During the pandemic study period, the institute thoughtfully arranged online and offline classes, and provided remote guidance and assistance to students who were temporarily out of town. Although I was prevented from meeting face-to-face by Covid-19, the program director was rigorous in scheduling learning tasks, and I felt a sense of care for the students' psyche.

HAVE YOU BEEN THE RECIPIENT OF ANY MAJOR OR DONOR-FUNDED AWARDS? IF SO, PLEASE TELL US WHICH ONES AND A LITTLE ABOUT HOW THE AWARDS HAVE IMPACTED YOUR STUDIES AND/OR RESEARCH.

I received the You Susheng Graduate Scholarship in 2021. It gave me a lot of moral encouragement and confidence to do research, which made me more willing to continue to dig deeper into my existing results. Also, the scholarship helped me to pay part of my tuition and reduce the stress of living.
