I am a long-time admirer of the digital media ecosystem, and I have seen it evolve in India from its infancy. With each exciting year in my journey of around 14 years in this industry, my passion for creating an impact in the digital world has been ever elevating. Thus, I decided to expand my proficiency in this remit by developing a design & innovative mindset and attaining the technical know-how vital to collaborate with the programmers, designers, and other stakeholders. The Master of Digital Media program from SFU has provided me with a perfect platform to pursue these aspirations as I collaborate with people from diverse spheres of life while working on the program projects that can help create a better tomorrow.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO COME TO SFU?
I chose Simon Fraser University as it is regarded as one of the top research-intensive universities in Canada with practical-oriented learning and commands excellent recognition worldwide. It also provides a collaborative environment promoting skills development with ingenious & strategic thinking. Further, its robust student support services help with counselling of various kinds, thus ensuring a favourable environment for the overall growth and wellbeing of the students.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR RESEARCH OR YOUR PROGRAM TO A FAMILY MEMBER?
Master of Digital Media program is accredited and awarded by four leading Canadian post-secondary institutions: Simon Fraser University, University of British Columbia, Emily Carr University of Art+Design, and British Columbia Institute of Technology. These universities deliver this program through the Centre for Digital Media. It is a cohort-based program, with students from all over the world, with experience ranging from a few years to decades, with diverse backgrounds, competencies, disciplines, such as business, design, fine arts, engineering, architecture, film. Also, this program focuses on experiential learning with projects to solve real-world problems for clients from across the digital media industry like Gaming, Healthcare, Extended Reality, Entertainment.
WHAT ARE YOU PARTICULARLY ENJOYING ABOUT YOUR STUDIES/RESEARCH AT SFU?
In this MDM program, I am enhancing the skills required to lead digital media projects while working with students from across domains. Subjects like Agile Leadership, Game Design, Digital Persuasion and Behavioural Change, along with client projects, are helping me build proficiency for the development of comprehensive business/product strategies required to Design, Deliver and Drive innovative, high-grade digital media products for clients from across domains in achieving various business objectives such as Gamification, Data Visualization, Web 3.0, and much more.
